Main Street Streetscape
Chula Vista, CA

LLG was retained by the City of Chula Vista to provide a “Complete Streets” assessment of a 2.5 mile stretch of Main Street. The focus of the masterplan is to provide a safe, efficient, aesthetically pleasing corridor with convenient access to all eight user groups – pedestrians, bicyclists, vehicles, truck/goods, disabled, children, elderly, and transit. LLG analyzed the intersection operations, evaluated the feasibility of roundabouts and roadway configurations, and evaluated various design elements for all eight users. Recommendations included, buffered bicycle lanes, reduced lane widths, landscaped medians, bus shelters, non-contiguous sidewalks and many others. LLG also developed a healthy corridor assessment checklist for Main Street and identified potential funding sources.
